Novato cracks down on gang related incidents — 18 in 2024

April 22, 2024 by Marin 3 Comments

Social Media press release from the Novato Police Department:

Stuff found in gang-related arrest.

On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Novato Police Detectives and the Marin County Probation Department checked in with individuals on probation to ensure compliance with the terms of their release from custody.

While responding to a probationer’s home for a compliance check, around 5:00 PM, the team was immediately confronted by a family member in an aggressive manner. The person was identified as 21-year-old Manuel Mazariegos. Mazariegos was in possession of brass knuckles and was not responding to officer’s verbal commands. Detectives and Probation Officers attempted to safely de-escalate the situation and arrest Mazariegos, but he resisted and threatened the officers.

After Mazariegos was detained, NPD Detectives located a loaded and concealed Glock firearm. Mazariegos was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail for multiple charges including resisting arrest, violence against officers, possession of brass knuckles, unlawful possession of a firearm and suspicion of committing a felony offense, while out on bail.

To help reduce tensions and violence within our community, the Novato Police Department partners with Marin County Probation, allied agencies, and support organizations. This year, Novato Police has investigated 18 gang-related incidents. Subsequent investigation and enforcement has resulted in several arrests, search warrants, recovered weapons, and positive parental engagement.

We would like to thank our community partners and the Marin County Probation Department for working in coordination to reduce gang activity in Novato. The Novato Police Department is committed to providing education, community outreach, and preventive enforcement measures to increase safety for all. If you notice suspicious activity, call NPD at 415-897-4361. In an emergency, call 9-1-1.

Great job, Marin. Keep letting in illegals with no consequences and this is what you’re going to get. Take this littler f’er and the rest like him and ship them the hell out ASAP. And don’t put up with the BS any longer. Time to clean house!

Out of control with Biden. Probably 15 million illegals entered the USA in last 3 years. This country is going to change. Every illegal has multiple kids. What is up with the pro palestine protests? Violence in the streets. Are some of these the same protesters we saw in 2020? This anti American behavior and attitude has been swelling for years like a pestering abcess that leaks puss and bleeds and eventually needs to be surgically drained
