Novato Police Department staff get pay bump; other employees left out

March 27, 2022 by Marin Leave a Comment

Police department staffers in Novato will get a 1.5% pay hike in an attempt to entice officers to stay at the department, rather than take higher-paid jobs elsewhere.

At the last Council meeting, City Manager Adam McGill painted a compelling picture for the pay bump. Thirty-four officers have left the city since 2014 and last year 7 officers left. Novato officers are paid 12 percent less than comparable cities in the region.

The action prompted other city-worker unions to complain about the increase not applying to all city workers.
