One arrested for multiple retail burglaries in Novato

December 8, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

Yesterday (12/6), around 8:19PM, Novato Police received information from Target staff members that a known theft suspect was inside the store. Target employees observed the man as he made selections and exited the store. A responding officer arrived and quickly took the suspect into custody. The man was identified as Jared Benson, a 27-year-old San Francisco resident. Benson is a suspect in 4 other active burglary investigations which occurred at the Target store in Novato. Benson also had an outstanding $10,000 felony warrant for his arrest (for grand theft) from the Morgan Hill Police Department.

The investigation confirmed Benson had stolen over $2,000 worth of Target merchandise during this most recent incident. Benson was arrested and transported to the Police Department where he was interviewed by a Detective. He was subsequently booked into the Marin County Jail for five separate counts of burglary, including the outstanding warrant.

We would like to thank store staff members and witnesses who reported these incidents, while they were occurring. Witnesses providing timely and accurate information can be the key in helping us solve these cases.
