– Mrs. Neilsen contemplates moving the large, fine barn that stands on the back of her lot to the front, and facing the west, converting it into a five-room house with all conveniences for a good home. There is a growing demand for houses for rent to Novato, and this is a start to meet that need.
– Disasters were narrowly escaped in town Labor Day. In the afternoon, a fire started in the kitchen of E. R. Samuels’ home from an oil stove which was left burning. No one was at home at the time, and the flames were noticed by a little girl who gave the alarm. Bud Hiribarren, a lad of 14 years, broke into the house and with a garden hose fought the fire manfully and had it under control when help arrived. His quick action saved much damage being done, if not the destruction of the house and the adjoining dwellings.
– The old Community House was sold last week, to be transferred in three months, A. H. Anderson getting the property for $3,500. It is understood that Mr. Anderson purchased for another party, who intends to raze the building and erect a concrete structure. Being a corner lot in the center of town, this is a most desirable Piece of property.
– The preliminaries for the building of the new warehouse, corner of Grant and Machin Avenues, have been completed and 0. W. Hall has men at work on the structure. The building will have a concrete foundation and be constructed of galvanized iron. Mr. Hall will have a modern building, and large enough to meet all requirements of a growing town for many years to come.

– After weeks of talks, representatives of the Carson & Barnes Circus and the Marin Humane Society signed on the dotted line last week, enabling the circus to come to Novato. The Sept. 10 agreement has both sides—the circus and its sponsor, the Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise, and the humane society—claiming victory- – It was also good news for Jean Price Lewis of Novato, president of the Novato Theater Restoration Committee, which is to be one of two recipients of the Rotary’s proceeds from advance ticket sales.
