A press release from PG&E.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) announced that it will be upgrading electric powerlines, poles, and other equipment throughout the City of Sausalito, beginning in mid- to late February.
As part of its commitment to safety and improving reliability for customers in Sausalito, PG&E will replace or upgrade approximately 200 poles, install new transformers and replace some overhead lines in Sausalito. As part of this work, the size of some poles will increase to accommodate larger equipment and meet safety requirements. Tree trimming will also be required around the new equipment to maintain the safe and required distance. This work will help meet growing energy demand in the community in part due to electric vehicles, accessory dwelling units, and home offices.
“PG&E’s electrical upgrade work will help improve reliability for Sausalito customers and ensure that we are meeting the growing demand for energy in the area. We appreciate the community’s patience as we perform this important work and remind customers in the area to stay safe by driving slowly and keeping clear of active work locations,” said Dave Canny, Vice President for PG&E’s North Coast Region.
In order to minimize impact to Sausalito residents, PG&E’s work will be divided into five phases, each covering a different geographical area of Sausalito. The first area of work will take place in the vicinity of Platt Avenue; Currey, Laurel and Toyon Lanes; and Toyon Court in the City of Sausalito. We expect this area of work to start in mid- to late February and last approximately three months. Weather and other factors that affect safe working conditions may change our schedule.

We expect most work to take place Monday through Friday during normal business hours 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. Weather and other factors that affect safe working conditions may affect the schedule. During the day, customers may observe PG&E employees and contractors in the area performing work with equipment such as bucket trucks and diggers.
Residents that may be impacted by this work will receive letters 90-days, 60-days, and 30-days prior to the start of work.
