Sherman R. Frederick/Properly Subversive
A choir director friend of mine had one of those brains that could pick up on tunes and play it back, no sheet music required. One day while riding his bicycle, a car struck him. It knocked him for a loop.
For half a year he could barely walk. He couldn’t carry on a conversation. But, weirdly, he could sit down at the piano and play old-timey church tunes.
That reminds me of Joe Biden.
Can’t walk off a stage correctly anymore. Seems perpetually confused in crowds and sometimes shakes hands with nobody. Can’t converse with the press extemporaneously. (Today, for example, Jewish kids are chased from college campuses by pro-Hamas demonstrators calling for the extermination of Israel and Mr. Biden is — what? — taking a nap?)
