Properly Subversive: Bill Clinton remains a tired relic of a time when women in the White House were prey

Properly Subversive/Sherman R. Frederick

Once again the hypocrisy of politics trotted out the former womanizer-in-chief Bill Clinton to rustle up votes to re-elect New York Gov. Kathy Hochul. And, it worked. Good for Gov. Hochul. Very bad for society.

I mean, honestly, Bill Clinton? We know what he did. His sperm on that blue dress proved it. And, even in this day of “Me Too,” there are those among us who still think it is OK to lift him up as a model for boys and girls everywhere.

Here’s the irony of it all.

Just days after Gov. Hochul happily campaigned with Clinton, complete with hand holding and smooching, the wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, Siebel, found herself in a Los Angeles courtroom testifying against disgraced filmmaker Harvey Weinstein. She told the court that she was raped by Weinstein in 2005.

Weinstein, using the Clinton defense, said California’s first lady had actually had consensual sex with him, you know, because young women often want to lay with overweight men three times their age. Young girls just can’t get enough of those horney Weinstein types.

You see where I’m going here?

Weinstein’s behavior is criminally grotesque. So I ask you, would the folks behind the Academy Awards honor him with a special award or speaking engagement? Would the California Legislature invite him to speak at a conference for Girl Scouts?

Hell no!

Yet, Cathy Hochul thinks it is just fine to lift up confirmed groper Bill Clinton on her campaign stage? Given what  Siebel Newsom has been through with Weinstein, would she and her husband ever hit the campaign trail with Bill Clinton?

I would sincerely hope not. But that scenario is sadly teed up if Gavin runs for president in 2024.

Look, even if you think Bill’s behavior fell short of rape – which, frankly, you’d have to also be a big-time Weinstein supporter to seriously entertain that idea – Bill’s still a womanizing troll completely out of place in 2022.

So, please, let’s just say “no” to Bill Clinton and keep that leg-humping old hound dog on the porch. The distinction between Bill Clinton’s behavior with vulnerable women and Harvey Weinstein’s is a distinction without a difference.

Harvey Weinstein, left, and Bill Clinton, right. Two peas in a pod

MARIN’S PRICY 94957

The Ross zip code of 94957 is the eighth most expensive zip code for home prices in the United States. The median home sale price in 2022 was a whopping $4,699,500. (Atherton was No. 1 at $9,000,000.)

DIRTY AIRLINE SECRETS

Some “tips” for flying commercial airlines are pretty much intuitive. For example,  the floor of the plane is absolutely filthy. Don’t go barefoot and for gawd’s sake if you drop your mint, don’t pick it up and pop it back in your mouth. Also, the blankets and pillows on flights are rarely washed and cleaned.

But I learned some stuff I didn’t know in a piece on the secrets of flight attendants. For example:

– Don’t drink airplane coffee. The water comes from the onboard system and the fill port is right next to the port from which the lavatories are drained. E coli contamination is a common thing. (Well, ick!)

– When the cabin crew stands at the entrance to greet you, they’re not trying to be nice. They are judging you as to whether they might have a problem passenger. So, be good.

– Flight attendants can be personally fined if they fail to tell you to fasten your seat belt when the seat belt light is on.

ONE MORE THING

– I fear elevators and I’m taking steps to avoid them.

– CHP pulled a driver over for throwing a pickle at another car. It’s not your Vlasic case of road rage, but it is still Claussen quite a commotion.

– DAD: We are not feeding that feral cat! ALSO DAD: I set up a heated cat house in the backyard and put up a camera so we can make sure she’s safe.

That’ll do for this week. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Until next week avoid soreheads, laugh a little and always question authority.
