Registrar thanks poll workers

November 16, 2020 by Marin Leave a Comment

San Rafael, CA – Marin County Registrar of Voters Lynda Roberts is thanking the 367 people who served as poll workers and support staff for the November 3 General Election under pandemic conditions.

“COVID-19 made this an especially challenging election,” Roberts said. “But the willingness of people to serve as poll workers was outstanding, and the number of volunteers far exceeded our expectations.”

Roberts thanked the managing personnel from 29 locations that served as polling places from October 31 to November 3.

Poll worker services manager Colleen Ksanda regularly told her crew, “As you know, we can’t run an election without you, and we appreciate each one of you for your dedication, commitment, and hard work to make it happen.”

Roberts also thanked the 50 trained full-time and part-time staff members for their dedication. Team members have been working overtime and weekends for several weeks to serve voters and process ballots.

One final step before the election can be certified is the mandatory 1% manual tally of precinct ballots and batches of vote-by-mail ballots. The public process begins Tuesday, November 17 at 9:30 a.m. in the Marin County Elections Department located in Suite 121, Marin Civic Center, 3501 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael.

Another election results update was posted November 13 at www.marinvotes.org. Most of the ballots left to count – approximately 1,500 – are the provisional ballots that take a lot of time to process manually. Ballots postmarked by November 3 and received by November 20 will be counted as quickly as possible.
