
During the night of AUG. 11, SRPD Officers found a suspect who had two warrants for his arrest in the 400 block of Canal Street. When the officers went to stop the suspect, he began to run away on foot. After a brief foot chase into the 300 block of Canal Street, the suspect was captured. During the arrest, officers found the suspect in possession of a loaded handgun, drugs, and drug paraphernalia. The two outstanding warrants were for a felon being in possession of a firearm and for assault and battery, which was the result of an SRPD case that happened in 2022. The suspect was booked into the Marin County Jail on the two warrants in addition to new criminal felony and misdemeanor charges for a felon being in possession of a firearm, carrying a loaded firearm in public, possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of a concealed firearm, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting a peace officer.The cop log added: “Great work by our officers for arresting this violent and dangerous suspect, along with removing another handgun from the streets of our community. These officers likely prevented a future act of violence.”
