On April 20 and 21, Sausalito Police Chief John Rohrbacher presented annual performance awards to four employees of the Sausalito Police Department and one volunteer. Because of the pandemic, this year’s awards were for a two-year period, 2020 and 2021, instead of a single year.
Employee of the Year went to Detective Davin Rose. Detective Rose’s performance demonstrated that he is a role model for others to follow, and he significantly contributed to the department’s policing mission throughout 2020 and 2021.
The Captain Mark Thomas Award was presented to Officer Sean Smagalski. Throughout 2020 and 2021, Officer Smagalski’s positive attitude, exceptional work ethic, dedication to helping others succeed, and exceptional customer service were an inspiration to the entire department
Volunteer Juline Beier was presented with the department’s Superior Performance Award. Among other accomplishments over the two year period, Volunteer Beier personally made over 2,000 face-coverings and distributed them throughout the Police Department and community during the pandemic.
Officer Bryce Mitchell and Officer Ryan Walsh were each awarded the department’s Life Saving Medal for providing emergency medical aid to a subject who had overdosed on narcotics in January 2021.
