Sausalito studying standards for multi-unit building permits

March 15, 2024 by Marin Leave a Comment

A study session on new objective standards for multi-unit building permits in Sausalito and the appeal of Planning Commission approval of a project at 426 Pine Street are among the topics on the agenda for the regular meeting of the City Council at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19.

The hybrid-format meeting will be conducted in the City Hall Council Chambers and via Zoom. It will also be broadcast live on the City website.

The following public hearing and business items are on the meeting agenda:

  • Item 4A – 426 Pine Street Appeal
The City Council will consider a staff recommendation to overturn Planning Commission-approved design review and encroachment permits due to the property owners’ failure to adequately amend their proposed plans as directed by the Council at an initial appeal hearing on January 22, 2024. Staff Report

  • Item 5A – Objective Design and Development Standards (ODDS)
The Council will conduct a study session on proposed new City regulations drafted in response to recent state laws limiting the ability of municipalities to deny multi-unit building projects on subjective grounds. City staff anticipates holding hearings beginning in April or May 2024 to amend the City’s zoning ordinance and adopt the ODDS. Staff Report

  • Item 5B – Facility Assessment Study
The Council will consider approving the release of a request for proposals (RFP) for a study to determine the life expectancy and replacement cost of features like roofs and HVAC systems at City-owned buildings. The study will also look at vulnerability to sea level rise. This item was originally scheduled to be heard on March 5. Staff Report

For additional items, staff reports, and other supporting documents, please refer to the meeting agenda. Information about participating in the meeting via Zoom and options for providing public comment can also be found on the agenda.
