Sausalito wants ideas for BofA building

May 3, 2021 by Marin 1 Comment

At its meeting on April 27, the City Council approved the release of a request for ideas (RFI) for the reuse and reactivation of the City-owned Bank of America Building in downtown Sausalito.

Through the RFI process, the City seeks to invite submissions of specific ideas for the use of the building by anyone equipped and capable of executing their ideas. Any decisions about future uses of the property will require public review and formal approval by the Council.

At the time the building’s acquisition was approved in August 2020, the recommendation from the City’s Economic Development Advisory Committee was that the City initially explore commercial uses of the property in order to recover costs, with the ultimate goal being to transition those uses to a “100% civic purpose.” The committee’s recommendation also cited a community survey favoring prospective tenants that provide resident-serving goods and services.

As part of plans for landside improvements at the Sausalito Ferry Landing, the City Council is considering ways to connect the Bank of America property with the ferry landing in a parklike setting.

Any questions about the Bank of America Building or the RFI process may be directed to Finance Consultant Charlie Francis at cfrancis@sausalito.gov.

Why don’t you try asking longtime residents who have a background in the history of Sausalito. Not fly by night rich guys who come in and want to plow the downtown under.
