This morning (Jan. 12, 2026) at 7am, Marin SAR was requested by the Novato Police Department to assist in a search for an elderly female who had walked away from her home.
Novato Police had been searching the area before requesting SAR. 45 Marin SAR members responded and began deploying in the field.

The search was for Marilyn McKenna, 92, who has dementia and walked away from her home in the Marin Mobile Home Park.
Police officers and Marin Search and Rescue coordinated the search.
Search dogs, drones, and E-Bikes were deployed in the area to assist with the search. A CHP Air Operations plane began searching from the air. While searching, CHP Air 31 located the subject in a backyard adjacent to open space.
CHP Air 31 guided ground teams to the subject’s location, where they immediately began assessing and providing medical care. Novato Fire Department responded and transported the subject to the hospital.
These outcomes would not be possible without the collaboration and teamwork of multiple agencies. We are grateful for our partnerships with the Novato Police Department, the Novato Fire Department, and the California Highway Patrol!
