Lynnette Shaw | Listen Up
Despite the fact that the majority of residents in Fairfax are against the so-called rent control and eviction ordinances, the Town Council is ignoring the fact that we have qualified enough signatures to place the issue on the ballot next November.
Instead, they are planning on spending over $300,000 of the Town monies – our tax dollars – to implement absurdly strict rules to force the ordinances on us all, adding further damage to the already angry landowners.
Rentals are drying up by the dozens in Fairfax as a result of the new ordinances.
Now the Council wants to add a “vacancy tax,” adding insult to injury. Wow.
This badly misdirected Town Council would require a paid registration of rental sites, with private personal information about who lives at my house and how much they pay.
I believe they have violated our civil rights to privacy. I strongly object to this type
of suppression of our civil rights. I strongly object to the invasion of our privacy in the sanctity of our private property.
Blinded by ideological delusions, the Council is barreling down the wrong train track. The anger of the citizens of Fairfax are getting focused on cleaning house.
We have three seats open next Fall. The recall of the other two seats looks imminent.
All five members of the Town Council have voted to destroy decades of hard work preserving Fairfax. All five members have voted to re-move our right to free speech. All five members have voted to damage our property rights and invade our privacy.
Shame on Chance Cutrano, Barbara Coler, Lisel Blash, Stephanie Hellman, and Bruce Akerman.
