The Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Nibbe invites anyone who wants the ultimate sunrise Easter celebration to join the annual service on Sweeney Ridge in Pacifica. He writes:
My friend,
He Is Risen! He Is Risen, Indeed!
You are most cordially invited to attend one of the most exquisite experiences of living in the San Francisco Bay Area, that is, the Easter Sunrise Service at the Discovery Site on Sweeney Ridge on Easter morning. This year it’s going to be glorious up there, as expressed by the NPS Park Ranger, Katie Beltrano. Our beloved present Mayor of Pacifica, will be with us, following the tradition set by a former mayor [Grace McCarthy], back in the 1980s. Hikers will be leaving from the end of Fassler Boulevard at exactly 6 a.m. for the summit. Simultaneously, the Pacifica Police Department caravan will leave from Eureka Square, also, precisely at 6 a.m. You need to dress real warm, including a warm cap and gloves. When the two groups meet at the ravine, we will be led by Scottish bagpiper David Vasheresse – in the darkness – up to the summit, the Discovery Site marker. As we arrive at the Summit, the sun will break forth the darkness. This is a priceless experience. When we arrive at the time, the sun comes over the horizon at 6:41 a.m. All persons and families are most cordially invited to attend this event, no matter how far away you have come from. We have had participants from as far away as Petaluma and Santa Cruz. Depending upon the weather conditions, the program lasts less than an hour. In truth, it is an extraordinary spiritual experience and will light up your day and your year. There’s just something special that the Lord has blessed us all with after all these years and decades. Please come!
You’ll treasure the experience! You’ll love it! God will bless you beyond measure!
