This week’s Marin prep football action

November 1, 2021 by Marin Leave a Comment

San Rafael

The San Rafael Bulldogs varsity football team had what looked like a great come-from-behind victory notched on their collars when in the waning minutes the Bulldogs recovered a fumble and subsequently scored to come within one point of Archie Williams High School, 20-21. San Rafael went for two and the win. They converted and now led 22-21.

But fate was on the side of Archie Williams that night. With hardly any time left on the clock, they drew up a long pass that connected.

The scoreboard clicked to 29-22. AWHS had won a thriller. There was no joy in San Rafael that night.

The Bulldogs face Novato High School on Saturday, Nov. 5.

San Marin

You can’t keep a good Mustang down. After going undefeated until last week’s blip against powerhouse Marin Catholic varsity football team, the San Marin Mustangs of Novato bounced back to defeat Tamalpais High School, 36-26. San Marin is now 8-1 on the season and will play Redwood High School on Friday (Nov. 5).

Novato

On paper, it was going to be a blowout. In reality, the 2-7 Novato Hornets couldn’t finish the game after an injury to one of their players in the third quarter. So, the 8-1 football juggernaut Marin Catholid posted a “called” win over the Hornets, who now play Saturday against Archie Williams High School.

Tamalpais

It was a home game on Halloween Eve for the Red-Tailed Hawks of Mill Valley’s Tamalpais High School. Maybe, just maybe, they could pull off an upset against the San Marin Mustangs. At halftime, the Hawks were up, but when the lights went out the score was 36-26 in favor of the visiting Mustangs. And things won’t get any easier this Saturday when the Hawks travel to Marin Catholic.

Terra Linda

The Trojans of Terra Linda High School varsity football took it on the chin last week, dropping a 45-0 game against the Redwood Giants. The 1-8 Trojans now go on to face crosstown rivals the San Rafael Bulldogs on Friday.

AWHS

Archie Williams High School pulled off a miracle win with a 4th and 10 bomb to beat San Rafael 29-22 last Saturday in a varsity high school football matchup.

Marin Catholic

The 8-1 Marin Catholic varsity football team put a hurt on the lowly Novato Hornets last Saturday. Literally. After a Hornet went down with an injury in the third quarter and powerhouse MC leading a billion to nothing, the game was called.

Redwood

Cha-ching! The Redwood Giants smashed the Terra Linda Trojans, 45-0 last Saturday. The 6-3 boys from Larkspur now set their sights on the mighty 8-1 Mustangs of San Marin.

Branson

So far the Branson Bulls have outscored their opponents by a billion to one. Finally, the Bulls encountered a team that put up a fight. A little fight, but nonetheless. The Bulls, undefeated so far, faced Stuart Hall and came away with 58 points and the win. What was unusual is that Stuart Hall put up 36 points in the losing effort, but still way better than other opponents this year. The Bulls play Calistoga Friday night.
