The Sausalito Police Department is actively investigating two separate strong-arm robberies this past week. Based on preliminary information obtained so far, officers do not believe the two incidents are related.
The first incident occurred on Feb. 15, at 6:25 a.m. in the 500 block of Bridgeway. The victim had just parked after arriving home when a suspect vehicle pulled up next to the victim’s vehicle. Two suspects smashed both the driver and passenger windows of the victim’s vehicle, reached inside, and forcibly took the victim’s purse, cell phone and other personal property. The suspect vehicle was described as a silver sedan occupied by at least two men.
The second incident occurred on Feb. 19, at 7:34 p.m. The victims were walking on the side of the roadway on Spinnaker Drive when the suspect vehicle drove up to the victims. A suspect reached out of the window, grabbed the victim’s purse, then drove away at a high speed, causing one of the victims to fall to the ground. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan occupied by at least two men.
“Robberies are rare in Sausalito,” the police said in a press release to Marinscope. “They are crimes of violence that threaten the safety and quality of life of a community.
