Vaccination rate lower than expected in Marin

November 17, 2023 by Marin 1 Comment

A press release from Marin County:

As the holiday season approaches, Marin County Public Health emphasizes the importance of vaccination to safeguard the community against winter respiratory viruses, including COVID-19, influenza, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

Marin County is experiencing lower-than-expected vaccination rates. Countywide, only 16% of eligible residents have received the updated COVID-19 vaccine and just over 40% of older adults 65 and older have received their flu vaccine.

In fact, Marin County Public Health anticipates canceling upcoming vaccine clinics because of low registration, which underscores the pressing need for increased vaccination rates in the county. With the winter holidays fast approaching, health officials are urging residents to prioritize their health and that of their loved ones by getting vaccinated.

“Vaccination remains one of the most effective tools against preventable medical visits, hospitalizations, and deaths,” said Dr. Matt Willis, Public Health Officer. “This year we also have a new tool, the RSV vaccine, to protect vulnerable residents. As we gather with family and friends during the holidays, getting vaccinated is a crucial step to protect ourselves and our community.”

Vaccines also play a critical role in protecting hospitals from emergency department overcrowding, diversions, and surges.

People are finally getting it that these over-night developed “vaccines” may not have been all they are cracked up to be…and much more!
