In the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 7, SRPD Officers went to Motel 6 in San Rafael on a report of a domestic violence and stolen vehicle incident. Oliver Wendell Andersen III, a 30-year-old Vallejo resident and convicted felon, was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail for numerous felony crimes, which included domestic violence, carjacking, and firearms violations. The victim received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization.
Just after 2:50 a.m., SRPD received 9-1-1 calls about a physical fight and possible vehicle theft that had just occurred at Motel 6, located at 737 Francisco Boulevard East, in San Rafael. Officers arrived at the scene and began investigating. A female victim was located who had minor physical injuries. San Rafael Fire Paramedics were called to provide additional medical attention.
Officers learned that Oliver Wendell Andersen III and the victim had been together at a downtown San Rafael bar. While at the bar, an argument ensued, which turned violent when Andersen began to punch and kick the victim. Eventually, both parties separated and left. Andersen and the victim then reunited at Motel 6, where the violence continued. The victim tried to call 9-1-1, and Andersen took the victim’s phone away. While the altercation continued, Andersen also took the victim’s car keys and then stole her vehicle. Fortunately, a witness who observed the incident was able to call 9-1-1.
While officers were interviewing the victim about what happened, Andersen drove by the scene in the victim’s stolen vehicle.
Officers stopped the vehicle and took Andersen into custody without incident. A wants and warrants check of Andersen revealed that he was a convicted felon who had a felony warrant for his arrest from Solano County for domestic violence criminal charges. During the search of the vehicle that Andersen had taken from the victim, officers found a bag belonging to Andersen that contained a loaded .38 caliber revolver firearm and extra ammunition. Andersen admitted to possession of the gun.
Andersen was booked into the Marin County Jail for felony carjacking, domestic violence, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, preventing a victim from using the phone, driving on a suspended license, and the outstanding Solano County felony arrest warrant.
SRFD paramedics treated the victim for injuries that did not require hospitalization.
